MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota - It would appear that today is the day for Milwaukee Bucks coach Larry Krystkowiak.

The Bucks ended the season with an eight-game losing streak and a 26-56 record after falling in overtime to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 110-101, Wednesday night at the Target Center.

The Bucks returned to Milwaukee after the game and general manager John Hammond planned to meet with Krystkowiak this morning. A decision most likely will be reached on Krystkowiak's status, and he is not expected to be retained.

"We'll meet and discuss the situation and there's no reason that we couldn't come to a resolution (Thursday) morning, one way or another," Hammond said. "There's no reason to wait. The right thing to do is to be fair to him and to be fair to the organization."

Said Krystkowiak, "It's been quite an experience. It's certainly not the way we were thinking it was going to work out."

Hammond also said that Dave Babcock would be retained as director of player personnel and that there would be another addition to the basketball front-office staff soon.

"He can be so valuable to me," Hammond said of Babcock. "He's excellent at what he does. He's an excellent talent evaluator and has a great work ethic."

Hammond did not elaborate on the other hiring, but the Bucks are very interested in Jeff Weltman, the Detroit Pistons director of basketball administration.

Point guard Ramon Sessions led the Bucks Wednesday with 25 points and 14 assists, while center Andrew Bogut finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Michael Redd scored two points in 27 minutes, finally sinking a jumper with 2 minutes 27 seconds left in overtime. Guard Randy Foye led Minnesota with 32 points, including 10 in overtime.

Krystkowiak, who was teary-eyed when he faced reporters afterward, was feeling an array of emotions, including disappointment and relief, as the curtain fell on the season.

"It's (partly) a sense of relief," he said. "It's constantly a game plan and watching tape. It's a long season. I've run into a half-dozen coaches going down the stretch here and the look on everybody's face is the same . . . it's a (bleeping) marathon. So there's a sense of kind of just going and crawling in a corner somewhere and decompressing."

Krystkowiak has been head coach for 100 games and the Bucks won 31 of them. They all had hoped for better.

"Disappointing would be the word," Bogut said. "It was tough to get through. A lot of distractions that we shouldn't have had, injuries and guys out one game and in one game. We didn't have the same group together every game and it hurt us. Then the stuff with the GM and with the coach and that hurt us in a way." Full Story.
