Bogut Assists Sessions With Game Winner www.jsonline.com by Tom Enlund 3 Apr 2008 WASHINGTON, D.C. - Milwaukee Bucks rookie guard Ramon Sessions sat in front of his dressing stall in the visiting locker room at the Verizon Center on Wednesday night. He was grinning from ear to ear and surrounded by a pile of ice that lay on the floor around him. To the victors go the spoils. Sessions had just sank a buzzer-beating 19-foot jumper from the corner that gave the Bucks an uplifting 110-109 victory over the Washington Wizards, and the veterans felt it was it was an achievement that was worthy of recognition. So why not dump the ice bucket over the rookie's head? "Yeah, I got him," confessed forward Desmond Mason, who was positioned a couple of stalls away from Sessions. "I got him with the ice. He played a good game tonight . . eight assists and the game-winning shot. He's been getting some solid minutes at crunch time. This is the second game in a row. He's really doing well and growing as a player. "I just thought we should reward him." Mason had just one regret. "I didn't give him the whole bucket, I only gave him half," he said. "You gave me the whole bucket," protested Sessions. Said Mason, "I gave you a half a bucket, young-'un. But I can give you a whole bucket." It was the Bucks' second straight victory and they hadn't won consecutive games since Feb. 23 and 26 when they beat Denver and Cleveland at home. The Bucks, who were officially eliminated from playoff contention when Atlanta won Wednesday, also broke an eight-game road losing streak. Playing the soft brand of defense that they did for most of the night, it didn't look like a game they had much chance of winning. The Bucks trailed by 10 with 7 minutes 4 seconds left and by six with 3:02 to go. But suddenly the Bucks ran off seven straight to take a 108-107 lead with 1:39 to go on a layup by center Andrew Bogut. Gilbert Arenas, returning after missing 66 games with a knee injury, sank two free throws with 15.1 seconds left. On the Bucks' wild final possession, after a scramble and a jump ball, the ball got slapped into the back court and Sessions ran it down and called timeout with 1.1 seconds left. The Bucks went to Bogut at the high post and Bogut made a great pass in the corner to Sessions, who drained the game-winner. The referees reviewed the shot and declared it good. "I saw them throw it into Bogut and two guys came to double and I knew he was going to throw it to me," said Sessions. "So I was waiting to catch it and I threw it up and it went in.
